MCKENZIE MECHANICAL THERAPY
The McKenzie approach credits the patient's ability to learn the skills necessary for treatment of their own condition. This places them in control of their own symptom management, which can reduce dependency on medical intervention. Known to show results in as little as two or three visits, treatment is assessment-driven and individualized, focusing on education and “active” rather than “passive” therapy strategies for more successful management.
ACTIVE RELEASE TECHNIQUES® (ART)
Active Release Techniques® (ART), considered the gold standard for soft tissue (muscle) treatment, is a type of “hands-on” assisted stretching for muscles, fascia and nerves. Through evaluation of texture and movement of soft tissues, abnormal tissues are treated by combining precisely directed pressure with very specific patient movements.
GRASTON TECHNIQUE
Graston Technique is a form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) that enables clinicians to effectively address scar tissue or fascial restrictions affecting range of motion. This non-invasive technique uses specially designed stainless steel instruments to help the clinician identify and treat areas of pain or tightness.
KINESIO TAPING
The Kinesio Taping method uses uniquely designed elastic tape over and around muscles to give assistance or support. The tape is designed to allow full range of motion, enabling the individual to participate in physical activity with functional assistance.

ACTIVE RELEASE TECHNIQUE
Active Release Techniques Soft Tissue treatment (ART) is a manual therapy administered by trained professionals to the soft tissue structures of the body. The muscles, tendons, nerves, and connective tissues can develop adhesions within and between them as a result of various injuries including: acute (sudden injury), cumulative (chronic injury) and pressure (due to poor posture). These adhesions alter the motion of muscles or joints, resulting in a wide variety of symptoms including pain, weakness and reduced range of motion, numbness and tingling.
The practitioner will find the area to be worked on and either have the patient actively move a body part or passively move the body part for the patient. The practitioner’s contact, coupled with the movement of the patient, allows the adhesions to separate.
GRASTON TECHNIQUE
Instruments make it possible to detect and treat fascial dysfunction at times when “hands-on” treatment may not be sensitive or specific enough. They allow the clinician to apply forces over areas smaller than your finger, when the targeted body part is too delicate for other methods. Larger areas can be treated all at once in broad strokes. The longer-edge tools can address adhesions that are more superficial to the skin.
Soft tissue fibrosis or chronic inflammation can result in collagen cross-links between the adjacent structures, causing them to stick to one another. Treatment with IASTM separates and breaks down these cross-links, stimulating the production of new collagen with improved function and mobility. This can provide a better healing environment for injured muscles or joints.
KINESIO TAPING
Kinesio Taping affects the activation of neurological and circulatory systems while providing support for the fascia, muscles, ligaments, tendons, and joints. The elastic in the tape serves to stimulate the skin and fascia, which can modulate pain and spasm in the underlying structures. Altering tension across the skin can improve the flow of fluids beneath the skin and decrease the effects of swelling and inflammation.

SELECTIVE FUNCTIONAL MOVEMENT SCREENING
Often, a problem in one area of your body can set the stage for pain and dysfunction in another area, i.e. (a stiff ankle might cause knee or hip pain, etc.) In order to solve certain musculoskeletal conditions, it may be necessary to improve function in distal segments of the body, even when they are seemingly unrelated to the point of pain. SFMA testing is a systematic way to evaluate these chains of movement in order to identify areas of stiffness that need to be mobilized or areas of weakness that need to be strengthened. Depending on the results, manual therapies or corrective exercises will be used as treatment.
